Tutorial: Coffee filter flowers

Before we get started, I just want to say that I most certainly did NOT invent this method of making paper flowers.  I came across a few tutorials on the web which produced beautiful results.  But many of them were either too time consuming or too tedious, or both.  So in the end I came up with my own method that used the basics of these other tutorials and cut out what I felt were unnecessary steps.

If you know me at all, you know that I'm impatient and am always looking for the fastest way to get a project done.  Hopefully you'll find this tutorial easy to follow and results in fantastic paper peonies!

A note about dyeing the flowers:
For my "dye" I used regular old craft paint, watered way down and mixed really well.  It worked wonderfully.  You could also experiment with food coloring.  I used food coloring for my yellow simply because I wanted to see how it looked and it worked really well also.

I haven't tried this yet, but I think "double dipping" the flowers would look pretty neat, too.  Dye them one color, allow them to dry, then dip just the very tips into a darker shade to add more depth.  Could be cool!

I followed your wonderful tutorial to make coffe filter peach colored peonies for our daughter's bridal shower, they were so easy and quick to make with your wonderful tutorial! The only thing thank I did differently was to color the coffee filters first! They were amazing! Just the color of the bridesmaids bouquets for the wedding! You did a great job doing this easy tutorial! Many thanks!

Thank you for bringing back sweet memories for me. I used to make dozens of them when I was 6 or 7 years old ages ago. We were making them with tissue paper or kleenex. I had so much fun with making peonies. Have a great day

This is one of the best tutorial and pictures I've seen on Pinterest. Thank you for this wonderful idea. I think I can do it! (Thanks to your talent of teaching)

Best tutorial and it works like a charm!!!
I made a little adjustment in that I used florist wire to secure the petals and make a stem at the same time. Takes me 4 minutes per flower. Just battled with hiding the wire, but got an air dry clay that is just fabulous. Florist tape was very expensive and fiddly.
Blessings from South Africa.

in some of the pictures you can't see the directions because the color of the writing is blending into the background. it appears more legible when its on the brown background. Frustrating.
